THERE’S A POSSIBILITY WE MIGHT SEE A STRIKE IN THE MLB
MLB is one of the only sports leagues where players came together and went on strike. In 1997, strikes paralyzed the league. Currently, many of the leagues top free agents are going unsigned with about two weeks left until pitchers and catchers report. This is due to teams being far more interested in getting under the luxury tax threshold of $197 million. There is also the suggestion that many teams around the league are content to sit back, lose games and garner cheap talent through the draft, locking in youth under their first contract rather than spend millions on aging sluggers. Another possible reason could be colluding by teams and the league. These acts are unfair to players and the reason they believe that going on strike is there best decision.
